New Recreational Gymnastics Program

The Mesquite Recreation and Parks Department is proud to announce the launch of the new Mesquite Gymnastics Program starting October 7, 2008.   This recreational gymnastics program meets twice per week on Tuesday and Thursday for 45-60 minutes.

Our recreational gymnastics program is geared towards having fun, developing fitness, and acquiring fundamental skills. Gymnastics provides a solid foundation of important skills that relate to almost all other athletic activities.

This is a great way to introduce your child to the fun of gymnastics.  Or, if your child has already been in the program, this is the way to become more advanced and become a "Team" member.  This program is open to all children from the age of 2 and up.

Our recreational gymnastics program offers your child an opportunity to develop a healthy way of staying physically fit, self disciplined, and enjoy a happier, well balanced life.  Come help build your child's athletic future while enhancing their self confidence, self esteem, and a strong healthy body.

The Mesquite Recreation and Parks Department is having an open registration night at the Mesquite Deuce Gymnasium 150 N. Power Tumbling

The Mesquite Recreation and Parks Department is now offering a Power Tumbling class beginning October 6, 2008.  This class will be held every Monday from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Power Tumbling is a fun and growing sport for boys and girls!  Instructor Tracy Mulliner will focus her class on handsprings, cartwheels, basic floor gymnastics and proper tumbling techniques.

Power tumbling is offered for those who are interested in improving tumbling, or floor exercise skills. Cheerleaders, dancers and other athletes often use this program to give them that something special that sets them apart from the crowd.   Power tumbling starts from the very beginner tumbler to the advanced.

Students are put through a variety of drills and progressions that allow them to learn safely and effectively. Careful attention is paid to the basics as this is the base upon which all other skills will be built.

Safety and security are stressed to the students.  Confidence in ones self is perhaps the greatest pay-off in our tumbling program. Constant challenges allow for more accomplishments, with each new success adding to a more secure, confident individual.
